Weights & measurements.

Recipes written by weight are repeatable; recipes written only in cups are a guess. These conversions cover the dry, spice, and liquid ingredients you'll meet across our recipes — plus the metric/imperial back-and-forth that trips everyone up.

Conversion tables

Cup to gram, at a glance.

We weigh where it matters — spices especially. A teaspoon of one spice is not the same grams as a teaspoon of another.

Volume reference

Spoons, cups & pints.

The trap is the cup: a US cup (240 ml) is not the same as a UK or Australian cup (250 ml). Know which one your recipe means.

A note on accuracy

Conversion values here are practical, rounded to the nearest 5 g for the kitchen — not laboratory-precise. Flour especially varies by how it's scooped: spoon-and-level gives ~120 g per cup, while dipping the cup straight into the bag can pack it to 140 g or more. For baking, a cheap kitchen scale is the single best investment you can make.
